Test Copies of Test Presses

The first release from Artistic Integrity Records has been announced! They will be releasing a split LP from 2001, between Mike Felumlee and Dan Andriano (both known for their places in Alkaline Trio) over 1000 pieces of vinyl, with 17 test presses.

Through a meeting of fate between myself and label owner Dan Wallach, I will be producing test press covers for his releases.

And so on with the process/more pictures!

A lot went into this first project. Being it was my first time using the laser cutter to score mat board/cardboard, while also cutting through, it took several test runs to make sure everything was just as I wanted it for the final product. These cardboard mock-ups (there are two of them) helped get me to a level of skill I was comfortable with.

Since Dan had new artwork created for the vinyl pressing, I thought it would be a neat throwback if the old artwork could be incorporated into this rare test pressing cover. I drew the cover in CAD and played around with the line weights to get the different levels on the cover – one, being the the wind turbines – two, being the diagonal cut throughs – and three, being a deep burn effect on the artists names.

They will all be numbered in the bottom corner out of 17.

I will post the final covers soon.

Project 1 is finished. And off.

I’ve officially finished Buried in the Bright Light’s first project.

I can’t show the final pictures yet, as the release hasn’t been announced yet, but you can check out a preview shot:

Look for full pictures and detailed explanation of the process in a week or two.

Along with some other cool stuff I’m working on. And maybe some other neat stuff too.

In the meantime, you can check out the record label site of Dan Wallach, and and his newly-formed Artistic Integrity Records.
